the 1st sign of trouble...

this was originally posted elsewhere on 19-4-2007. so since i'm planning moves... why not go the whole yard..? so here it is... the "this" in this post dropped off the internet radar after succumbing to NST's little "pay for our archives" scheme. do i begrudged them? i do. but then again they've got little to say past being an overrated mouthpiece....

have look at this for context.

this takes the cake. i've been somehow anticipating this "squirming out of a deadline".

so someone realised that 2020 is merely 13 years away and decides to fudge the issue that this inglorious nation is supposed to be a fully functional developed nation.

so the language shifts to say, in very uncertain terms, "hey, this is the century of success, baby!"... where can-lah.... this shifting of goalposts.

you don't have to look that far ahead to realise that the dichotomy of 1st class insfrastructure / 3rd class mentality is already crippling this nation.

i read well between the lines to know that going by today's report, we are well behind schedule. you don't have to see or know it. you can feel it. you can prop up the economy so high up, that it'll come crashing down like MJ's nose under hot stage lights.

i feel very slighted. all those years of growing up under the vision 2020 drive, from the endless jingo-istic attitudes of rtm to the droning whine of school teachers, 2020 was somehting to look forward to if this bloody country worked at it the right way. no pretense.

ini tak boleh!!! now i have a sleepyhead piss-ant who shifts the goalpost. if i didn't know better, procrastination is now officially a nationally celebrated value.

the next 50 or 100 years can be wonderful but it doesn't concern me... those years are mere consequences of the work towards 2020.

the main objective and only question here is this, will we be a developed nation on or before 2020?... until next time... kill the lights and pray you don't see daylight.....
